Do you have an interest in birding but don’t know where to start? We’re offering a series of crash courses to give you the introductory skills you need to get out and get your bird on! You’ll learn how to use key bird tools, the basics of bird biology, how to ID warblers and other songbirds by sight and sound, and so much more. Manomet’s Evan Dalton, Lead Instructor for Landbird Conservation, will be leading the classes and the walk.

Over 25 species of warbler can be found during migration in the Northeast, each with their unique plumage, songs, and habits. This course will run through the species you can expect to see this spring and offer many useful tips for warbler finding and identification. Attend just the class or join us for the accompanying warbler walk the following morning!

The perfect complement to the ‘Know Your Warblers’ class, or a fun walk looking for migrating birds! We’ll spend our time walking through several habitats looking for warblers and other songbirds, focusing on identification by sight and sound. This is an excellent opportunity to get out and enjoy one of the true rites of spring: warblers!

The classes will be held at Manomet headquarters at 125 Manomet Point Road in Plymouth, MA, and the walk will take place at Nelson Park, also in Plymouth. The cost to attend is $25 per class and $15 for the walk or you can choose a package deal of $30 for both May programs. The classes are designed for ages 14 and up.
