On November 29, Manomet President John Hagan will deliver a talk in Boston on the challenges scientists face in a time of increasing polarization.

The talk, The Science of When Science Doesn’t Matter – And What We Can Do About It, will be from noon to 1 pm at the Boston Foundation.

Drawing from Manomet’s work in everything from biomass energy to climate change, Hagan will discuss why we filter information to suit our own agendas and how this works to impede problem solving.  Hagan will discuss his own experience from the field and explain how scientists can make their work relevant to the most contentious problems of our time.

Last month, about 30 people gathered to hear Manomet scientist Hector Galbraith discuss climate change vulnerability.
