Bird-A-Thon is a 24-hour celebration of birds and the people who love them—and it helps support vital bird research and conservation at Manomet Conservation Sciences!

You can participate in one of two ways:
1. Join us in person at Manomet Conservation Sciences’ headquarters in Plymouth, MA for a FREE, family-friendly, all-ages event, or
2. Bird on your own—whether in your backyard, a local park, or a new birding spot you’ve been meaning to explore.

Wherever you choose to bird, your goal is simple: count as many bird species as you can see or hear and contribute your sightings to Manomet’s eBird list. Every observation adds to long-term research and community science, helping us protect birds and raise essential funds and awareness for our Landbird Conservation Program and Banding Lab.

It’s easy to take part—bird for an hour or bird all day (or even at night!) on Saturday, September 27th. Whether you’re with us in Plymouth or out in the field on your own, you’ll be part of a growing community working together for conservation.

Join Us at Manomet Conservation Sciences’ Headquarters in Plymouth, MA! Our in-person event is FREE and open to all ages. Here’s what to expect:

  • Story hour, Bird feeder workshop and kid friendly activities
  • Guided Family Nature Walks
  • Meet the Banders + Behind-the-Scenes Banding Lab Tours
  • The “Big Sit” overlooking Cape Cod Bay
  • Wildlife Photography Workshops
  • Native plant sale (bird-friendly plants!)
  • Raffle prizes & giveaways
  • Photography contest
  • And more!

Birding questions are welcome, and the bluff overlooking the bay is wheelchair accessible. Come for a while or stay all day—no experience needed. It’s a fun, relaxed way to enjoy nature and support Manomet Conservation Sciences’ important work.
