Landbird

Manomet works closely with schools and other research organizations to monitor migratory landbirds and to help children understand the importance of nature.

Our scientists have been monitoring spring and fall migrant landbirds at Manomet since the early 1970s. The resulting database represents one of the few standardized long-term data sets and provides an extraordinary window on ecological changes.

We welcome more than 1,000 visitors to our headquarters each year - including elementary schools, college science classes, photography clubs and birders. Our visiting groups learn about landbirds, their migration and their changing habitat. Our staff is also bringing nature and science education to children through a new online bird banding demonstrations and the 'Climate Lab' we have launched with the Wildlands Trust.

If you would like to learn more about our program or want to work with us, please contact Banding Director Trevor Lloyd-Evans.
