Science Communications Manager
Andrea Ferreira
Andrea is from Paraguay, a country that she refers to as “the heart of South America”. She holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences, a Diploma in Natural Resource Management and Conservation from the Autonomous University of Yucatán, and a Master’s in Media Psychology from the University of Salford Manchester (UK).
As Manomet’s Science Communication Manager, she works to ensure Manomet’s science content is accurate, accessible, and compelling. She leads the organization’s social media strategy and supports communications for the Western Hemisphere Shorebird Reserve Network (WHSRN). Her work highlights partner achievements, strengthens strategic engagement, and aligns storytelling with Manomet’s conservation goals.
She brings over 15 years of experience in wildlife conservation, built at the intersection of environmental science, ornithology, and digital communication. Her path began in 2008 at Guyra Paraguay, where she spent a decade supporting field work, waterbird censuses, supporting biological monitoring projects, and delivering environmental education in rural and indigenous communities. She also served as Communications Officer for WWF Paraguay, driving national campaigns on reforestation, freshwater protection, and forest conservation.
Before joining Manomet, Andrea worked for the World Land Trust as Social Media Officer. As a visual storyteller, she has documented conservation projects in Colombia and Paraguay, contributed to nature guides and photographic books, and has been teaching photography since 2009.
Passionate about connecting people to nature, Andrea uses evidence-based communication strategies to inspire action for conservation across the hemisphere.
