Development Operations Manager

POSITION SUMMARY

Manomet Conservation Sciences is seeking a Development Operations Manager to serve as a key member of the Development team, supporting fundraising strategy and sustaining and growing the philanthropic support that makes our mission possible. In coordination with the Vice President, External Relations, this role manages the systems, processes, and daily operations that power our fundraising program and help connect donors to Manomet’s science, partnerships, and conservation impact.

As the primary administrator of Manomet’s donor database, the Development Operations Manager ensures accurate gift processing, acknowledgments, reporting, and prospect tracking. The role also provides operational support for donor stewardship, appeals, research, and events, and works closely with colleagues across Development, Communications, Finance, and Programs to support strong collaboration and informed fundraising decisions.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary administrator for Raiser’s Edge, managing daily database operations, data integrity, gift coding, queries, reporting, imports/exports, and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain accurate constituent, appeal, solicitation, campaign, and prospect records; support prospect management, moves tracking, and portfolio reporting.
  • Process gifts and pledges accurately and on time, including acknowledgments, stock gifts, credit card and mobile giving, and donor inquiries.
  • Produce regular and ad hoc reports to support fundraising, donor engagement, reconciliation, audit preparation, and organizational reporting.
  • Coordinate data sharing and reconciliation with Finance and support tracking for grants, foundations, and reporting deadlines.
  • Conduct donor, prospect, foundation, and corporate research; prepare profiles, briefings, and background materials to support cultivation and proposal development.
  • Support fundraising campaigns and events through list preparation, segmentation, tracking, invitations, registration, follow-up, and related logistics.
  • Partner with Communications on donor data integration and provide backup support for related systems as needed.
  • Train and support staff in database procedures and best practices; maintain development documentation and internal processes.
  • Help manage the Development calendar and provide general operational, donor service, and administrative support for the team.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Vice President of External Relations.

PREPARATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in development operations, advancement services, fundraising support, or nonprofit database management.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong experience with Raiser’s Edge or another fundraising database/CRM.
  • Excellent computer skills, including strong proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and internet-based tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize effectively, and maintain strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to produce accurate reports, manage data with care, and maintain confidentiality and discretion.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a strong customer-service orientation.
  • Ability to collaborate across teams and support colleagues effectively.
  • High degree of initiative and ability to work independently.

SALARY RANGE: $63,000 -$68,000

We are seeking a Director, Individual Giving to grow and diversify philanthropic support from individuals and to strengthen our pipeline of major and leadership gifts. This role will build and steward relationships with donors and prospects, create clear upgrade pathways across giving levels, and expand Manomet’s reach through engagement with financial advisors and other philanthropic intermediaries.

The Director, Individual Giving reports to the Vice President, External Relations, and works closely with development and communications staff, the President, and program leaders to create compelling opportunities for support.

  • Manage a portfolio of individual donors and prospects with clear annual revenue and activity goals; conduct discovery, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Develop tailored cultivation and solicitation strategies for priority donors, including individualized engagement plans, timelines, and next-step recommendations.
  • Prepare donor proposals and customized materials (e.g., tailored cases for support, funding opportunity summaries, and multi-year request language) in partnership with program and communications colleagues.
  • Build and maintain a strong donor pipeline, including consistent qualification of new prospects and structured upgrade strategies across giving levels.
  • Partner with the Vice President, External Relations, and the President on major gift strategies, donor meetings, and solicitations—providing concise briefings, talking points, and follow-up plans.
  • Develop and implement an advisor engagement program (financial/wealth advisors, estate attorneys, CPAs, philanthropic consultants), including advisor briefings and easy-to-use materials that support referrals.
  • Lead stewardship strategy for portfolio of assigned donors, ensuring timely and personal acknowledgments, meaningful impact updates, and ongoing engagement that supports renewals and upgrades.
  • Track and report progress in the Customer Relationship Management System (CRM), including moves management, pipeline health, proposals, forecasting, and results; use data to refine strategy and improve performance over time.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with development operations, communications, and program teams to ensure consistent donor experience and strong alignment between fundraising priorities and program needs.
