Margaret Brumsted
As an Education Specialist at the Wade Institute for Science Education at Manomet Conservation Sciences, Margaret Brumsted brings her deep love for oceanography and decades of teaching experience to her work with educators.
Margaret has spent much of her career teaching high school science, specializing in Oceanography, Marine Biology, and AP Environmental Science. She holds a B.S. in Biology and an M.S. in Marine Environmental Science. Throughout her career, she has embraced professional development opportunities that have taken her far beyond the classroom. She’s sailed on tall ships as an educator, conducted field research in places like Costa Rica, Belize, the Bahamas, and Mexico, and even worked alongside scientists aboard research vessels in Hawaii and Antarctica.
Now, Margaret is passionate about sharing those experiences with today’s educators. Through her work at the Wade Institute at Manomet, she helps teachers bring the excitement of science—and the spirit of exploration—into their own classrooms.
She lives in Rhode Island and enjoys a range of outdoor adventures, including backcountry skiing, sailing on Narragansett Bay, traveling, and bike touring.
