This month, Manomet welcomed three new staff members: Director of Communications Cheryl Botieri, Development Writer Bridget Alexander and Applied Forest Scientist Jennifer Hushaw.

As a young girl, Cheryl Botieri lived right around the corner from Manomet, where she visited our banding lab as a fourth grade student while attending Manomet Elementary School.  Years later she returned as a chaperone for her children’s field trips from Duxbury elementary schools.

Cheryl has over 30 years of experience in communications, community development and family education.  Prior to coming to Manomet , Cheryl was the Vice President of Mission Advancement for the South Shore YMCA where she was responsible for the strategic planning and implementation of the organization’s mission re-positioning, re-branding and all of their financial development programs. As Manomet’s Director of Communications, Cheryl will manage the organization’s internal and external communication strategy.

Through the new Development Writer position, Bridget Alexander will be capturing and sharing the stories of Manomet through many development and communication materials and vehicles. Bridget recently served as Executive Director of the Southeastern Massachusetts Agricultural Partnership where she built support for the Buy Fresh Buy Local movement. She also worked to grow the green jobs sector in her capacity as director of development for the Greater New Bedford Workforce Investment Board.

Bridget has a BA in Communication Studies from Virginia Tech and  a Law Degree from Roger Williams University where she studied environmental law. She is a member of the Massachusetts Bar.

As an Applied Forest Scientist, Jennifer Hushaw will be working for the Climate Smart Land Network to synthesize the latest research about projected regional climate change, identify the opportunities and challenges these changes pose for forest ecosystems, and work with CSLN members to integrate climate science into their forest management and planning.

Before coming to Manomet, Jennifer was a Project Manager at a natural resource consulting firm where she worked on a variety of projects related to wood supply, wood energy, and forest resource sustainability in the northeast. She provided technical expertise for the creation of user-friendly modeling tools and geospatial analysis, as well as contributing to forest landowner outreach projects and assistance with on-the-ground forestry operations.
