Clear Water Carbon Fund

The Clear Water Carbon Fund is an innovative, market-based program that brings together community partners to restore forests along riverbanks.  This program plants trees on behalf of individuals and businesses that seek to protect their local water resources and mitigate carbon emissions. The Clear Water Carbon Fund uses the voluntary carbon-offset market to increase the capacity of existing community-based organizations to protect clean water.  In 2011, we successfully piloted this program in the Sebago Lake watershed in Maine and White River watershed in Vermont.  Over the next year we will expand our efforts to the Upper Androscoggin watershed in Maine and the Nashua River watershed in New Hampshire and Massachusetts
