Definitions
Bycatch - As Defined by the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act (see below), bycatch consists of "..fish which are harvested in a fishery, but which are not sold or kept for personal use.." but does not include "..fish released alive under a recreational catch-and-release fishery"
Discard - Animals discarded after capture (either dead or alive).
Fish are defined as "..finfish, mollusks, crustaceans, and all other forms of marine animal and plant life other than marine mammals and birds (emphasis added).
